WORK IN PROGRESS...HEADSTUDY...ACRYLIC

I'm getting annoyed with how long it's taking to get this done. Yesterday I had to do an errand which took longer than usual and by the time I had finished I had to get on with the mundane tasks of housekeeping.....when I become rich and famous I'm getting a housekeeper.....I can but dream but I'll settle for a bit rich. This afternoon I have a dentist appointment which means I'll have to stop again. Off course this isn't the only one I'm working on in between the mini cows and landscapes....just feel like a moan. Picked up a copy of Artists & Illustrators yesterday because it had a feature on painting horses, a rare thing in an art magazine...actually quite a good magazine if you can get your hands on one. Jacqueline Stanhope an artist whose work I enjoy is one of the equestrian artists featured.......I loved one of her top tips "Painting a picture is not open-heart surgery but I regularly meet people who are frightened of 'failure'. Loosen up and have some fun!"

The Old Ones
Acrylic 6x6
£150- or £125 unframed
Email me if your interested
Commissions also accepted

This is a little group of trees that have been here since long before I was born (no cheeky comments thank you lol). This summer I've really seen a difference in them, most people passing them probably won't but they're old friends to me and I've painted them a few times and can see the change in them. Chances are this will be their last summer as two years ago they had the dreaded red crosses painted on them by Scottish Power. We lost a few old friends that year as they were deemed a danger to the power cables..took minutes too take down hundreds of years of growing. I can't help but think of the changes they have seen and the stories they could tell....:)

WORK IN PROGRESS.......

Back in my comfort zone today, was disappointed on the painting yesterday which made me a little apprehensive about going back to this work in progress. Needn't have worried cos I seem to be in the zone today. Decided to take a little break so photographed what I had done for all too see. Will go back to it cos I'm now a bit behind and have to get work finished for Dowhill. Been asked to put three in during the The Open at Turnberry, this looks as if it might be one of them :)

This is what happens.....

This is what happens when you have a break from painting. To be fair it started of quite promisingly but then went down hill (no pun intended) fast. Could be that it's a hot sticky day here and my consentration is to pot.....but whatever it is this is a dong and not a ding. No worries with typing this I'm already over the artist's I Can't Paint Synrome and tomorrow will be another day and another painting.....Ho Hum !!
*Note :- I wasn't that brave I showed it as small as possible lol

"PETAL" ACRYLIC 6X6......

"Petal" Acrylic 6x6 £150- or £125- unframed
Any enquiries about "Petal" to me
Commissions accepted.

There are some paintings your working on that just seem to fall off the brush and this little one was one. I've enjoyed working on this from the first spot of paint. I'm sure other artists will agree with me when I say there are times when you know almost from the preliminary drawing that its going to work. I'm sure Petal as I've named her won't mind me saying that I've loved doing her wrinkles and double chin lol. Hope you enjoy her as well and thanks for dropping by.

P.S. Almost forgot if you get a moment take a look at The Equinest they've done a very nice feature on my work. Thanks to them :)

SOLD TWO OUT OF THREE AT DUNKELD

"Jo Jo" Acrylic 6x6 £150- SOLD

"The Hairy One" Acrylic 6x6 £150- SOLD
Just found out that I've sold two of the three paintings I took up to Dunkeld last Monday for the Dunkeld Cathedral Art Exhibition (images of them above). I'm really quite delighted as I was quite pleased with "The Hairy One" and classed it as one of my favourites.
Going to have an unbearable cheesy grin for the next couple of days.....sorry :)))))

Another busy day....

"Petal" Acrylic 6x6

Been another busy day here with not much too show in the form of art work. Had a lunch date catching up with friends. Being an artist you can easily become something of a recluse so every now and again I make myself take time out to meet my friends.....or is it they drag me away screaming lol. I did have a lovely time with lots of laughing and catching up done, I then ran a few errands and before I knew where I was it was time to get dinner prepared. Got another appointment tomorrow around lunchtime so thought I'd prepare this panel so I'd be ready too start tomorrow morning. This is one of my Charolais ladies that we all have been following on my Blogs....thought it was about time I actually painted one. Thought I'd try something a little different and covered the panel Cad. Crimson Red. The Charolais have tinges of pink on their skin so this might work in my favour....then again lol.
We will just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings...pop in tomorrow night too find out!!
Thanks for visiting :)

No Painting Done Today....

Took a couple of paintings to Troon today, to the Framework Gallery. A lovely gallery full of paintings by local and further afield artists. Fresh and bright it's a joy to walk through. Took two recent works that you have already seen "View From The Hill" and "Catching the Morning Sun". Fingers crossed they'll catch someones eye.

While I was in Troon I took the oppertunity to go visit the Marina....boy was I glad I did. All enclosed together like sardines in a tin the yachts were stunning....the thought of having to park one of these would bring me out in a cold sweat. I felt like a kid loose in a chocolate factory. Not that I'm a sailor or even a painter of boats...far from it, but, the colours. Took masses of photos so don't be surprised to see some paintings of boats in the near future....when I'll definately be out of my comfort zone :))

Love this time of year when work is going on through the land changing the colour and texture of it on a daily basis. Loved the freshly cut fields where the silage has been taken making patchwork quilts on the land.

JOINED THE FUN AT THE BELMONT pARTy

Acrylic 7 x 5

Two fellow blog artists have been having a pARTy to celebrate the America Triple Crown series. They each.....Linda Shantz and Kim Santini did a painting from a referance photograph provided by superb photographer Juliet Harrison . On this the last leg of the series, the Belmont, they invited anyone who wanted, to join the party....this is the photograph referance we had to work from.
As usual I spent so much time thinking about what I was going to do yesterday I didn't leave myself self much time to complete withing the 24 hour deadline....the fact that racing from Epsom was on the tv didn't help either lol. Decided eventually to single out the bay horse only because I thought he had a prettier head than the grey. I completed it in acrylic on a piece off mount card and it measures 7 x 5 using washes on top off each other. Would have to say that the original does look much better than the photograph it's softer and warmer than this....and not so purple :-s.
Looking forward to see what everyone else produces, will be checking the pARTy blog and off course looking forward to the DERBY today at Epsom good luck and a safe trip to all taking part....and too those across the Pond in the Belmont

WIP HEADY STUDY THREE

Little by little.....this is literally going to be like watching paint dry lol. It sometime feels more like doing sculpture feeling my way along the bone structure. Then after the head is completed I'll go back over making little changes perhaps some colour on a highlight and gradually deepening the background. I can see it finished in my minds eye........it's getting it onto the board :)

WIP HEAD STUDY TWO......

Didn't get much done today but at least it's a start as always I'm starting with the eye and as I know that eye as well as I know my own I've hit it just right.......hopefully the rest will fall into place. Normally I would have worked on it tonight but I'm off to watch the village team play in a cup final. They've already won the League Cup and the Ayrshire Cup think this is the John Scott Trophy....at least the sun is shining so could be a good night. Drop by tomorrow for the result lol....and a bit more off the painting.
