LAST POST.......

The last eight months have been a pretty stressful time for me with one thing or another and over the past few weeks I've mulled over what's been happening and what to do. The loss of wee Dougal I think was the straw that broke the camel's back. It was a harrowing experiance and quite frankly broke my heart. Add to that my brothers health has deterioated with his mobility getting worse which means we have to re-organise how we live our daily life. Then over the last month he has had problems with his sight which has involved surgery and will involve more over the coming months. My stress levels are perhaps at an all time high and I need too wind down a little before I make myself ill. I will spend my time quietly finishing the commissions that my clients have been so patiently waiting too long for. I am sorry but I won't be taking on any new commissions for quite a while.

When I get back to blogging I'm going to start afresh with a brand new Blog so please keep looking in from time to time to find out where to find me. Meanwhile I can't thank you all enough for the encouragement and wonderful comments you've left about my work in the past two and a half years.

I'll be back ASAP so for now Happy Painting out there!

SOMETIMES.......

"I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing" ~ Agatha Christie

"THREE WHITE SAILS" ACRYLIC 5X7

"Three White Sails" Acrylic 5x7 £170-

I've lost count over the years how many times I've painted Arran, this is from Barrassie Beach. The other day I put up a couple of images of Arran on my photo blog, they were taken on the Dunure coast road. He (Arran) has many moods and there are days when he hides, others when you feel you could reach out and touch him, but always he's beautiful. You might be wondering why I call him he. In Ayrshire he's known as the Sleeping Man because when you see the isle in silhouette he looks like a sleeping man.

SOMETIMES PAYS NOT TO THINK ......

"After the Rain" Acrylic 6x6 £150

It sometimes pays not too think too much about what your doing. I spent the best part of the day wondering what I was going to paint. Then, just when I'd almost packed myself off to bed I literally threw this together. Four colours, Titanium White, French Ultramarine, Leaf Green and Sap Green. The French Ultra and the Sap Green make a lovely Viridian don't you think. We've been having rain on and off for a few days now and it's starting to get a bit boring. That said I love these moments when the rain starts to subside and and theres a little bright patch in the distance.....and you wish you were in it.

"No matter how reclusive we tend to be, we picture the after life as a community of souls. It is one thing to seek privacy in this life; it is another to face eternity alone" ~ Robert Brault

ROUGH GRASSES, BARASSIE BEACH

"Rough Grasses, Barassie Beach"

Acrylic 6x6

Was up at five of the clock this morning, bright as a button with no chance of falling back asleep I plonked myself at the easel and did this wee 6x6 of Barassie Beach. I often take the dogs for a walk here in both summer and winter. It's quite popular in the Summer months with people as it has a good stretch of sand, in fact you often find horse boxes parked up on the grass, the horses and their owners taking advantage of a gallop alongside the sea and sometimes in it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TARA

Ok I'm a little biased.....17 today, where have the years gone since this scruffy wee six month old filly arrived from a hillside in Perthshire. Her face was so white my Dad was convinced I'd bought a hereford calf lol. She's grown into the sweetest and most beautiful mare, a real people lover.......and I love her to bits :)
