We've been having some frosty weather these last few days so I've been putting out extra rations for the birds. I got my reward when this handsome Blackbird posed for a photo love his bright orange beak.
Here they're black with yellow through to this bright orange beak. This is a male the females are brown in colour without the coloured beak. They sing beautifully...
He is stunnng with his orange beak and bright eye. We have Magpies here in Reno - black birds decorated with white and long tails - very verbal and funny. I love watching them but they don't stay still long enough for a photo!
I love Magpies Susan and as you say they make for entertaining watching. Mind you they can also be very cruel come Spring when they steal the babies of the smaller birds....but such is the law of nature I guess :)

I've never seen a Blackbird like this here in our area. Ours have red or yellow bars on their wings and black beaks.
