It doesn't take much...got all excited this evening when it got dark and my solar lamp came on.....
After a sunny start it got quite dull and overcast but I managed to dig out and replant some more shrubs. It's amazing how quickly the garden has started to take shape. A very long way to go but it's a good start not too mention theraputic. Being out in the fresh air has cleared all the cotton wool from my head.......time I think to get back to the easel. You can expect fresh work soon :o))

The painting above "Blue Haze" has never sat right with me. One of those paintings that at times when you passed looked ok. Then other times you wanted to rip it off the wall and burn it. This morning I decided against burning it and instead had a little bit of fun trying to improve it. It needed a softer touch and now I feel it's more Spring like, looser and the wild irises are dancing. I had been swithering whether to keep the name or christen it anew. As I wrote the end of the previous sentence the title came to me "Dancing Irises".....it would seem everything has fallen into place as it should....smile!

"Tree Tunnel" Acrylic 10" x 14"
Signed and happy to call it finished. This is one of those paintings where you could go gone on forever adding a leaf here and there but I wanted to keep it loose and airy. Looking at it I find myself transported to the day I took the reference photo. There had just been a shower of summer rain and the smell of the earth and foilage was fresh with it......
First Spring baby I've found this year. Was a freezing cold morning with a heavy ground frost she looked like she would have been happy to be back in her Mum's tum

Starting to enjoy this work in progress and the wee bit bigger than normal format at 10"x14". At the moment the working title is 'The Tunnel' but might change that once it's done. This is a path which I used to walk everyday, at this spot during the summer months the treesjoin and form a tunnel...hence the title. Out into the garden now for a wee bit....loving the longer light :)
Thanks for looking in.....

The top image is a photo of a painting I started back on the 19th March, haven't lifted a brush since. My heart just wasn't in it. But, this morning I filled the dish with fresh water, squeezed paint onto the palette and started. Didn't spontaneously cobust and better still I picked up where I left off......not always easy with a time lapse of nearly a month. It's a start......

Was a bit nippy on the nose this morning on my walk but all pleasure never the less. Got a huge surprise when I looked over the bridge a whole clutch of ducklings plus Mum. Can't remember ever seeing them this early. Photo not to clear...they're turbo charged wee quackers but still cute......

Weather wasn't to bright over the holiday weekend but yesterday the afternoon cleared enough for a spell in the garden. Being outside really does lift my spirits, the fresh (bracing) air, the birds chattering away and the smell of the soil and plants. The birds are especially a joy to watch and smart too. They get to know who pushes the meal trolley, I can feel their beady eyes on me when I'm working. And when I start to gather up my tools positions are found and the noise level rises....lol.
I fill the seed holder and the second I push the porch door forward the bravest leave their hidey hole.

Delivered my work to the Torrance Gallery yesterday. The Gallery was a buzz of bubble wrap and arriving work. Thank goodness I don't have the unenviable task of hanging the exhibition....smile! Exhibition opens this Easter weekend fingers crossed the snow will have melted and the sun will shine.
