"What Summer?" Acrylic 6x6

"What Summer?"
Acrylic 6x6
Sold through the Aberfeldy Gallery

This must be the wettest Summer I can remember here in the UK and my heart goes out to farmers and those who have to work in it. As an artist it makes for huge foreboding skies which I love to paint. Though chances are you might be fed up looking at them before Autumn brings her colourful robes....

In at the deep end...."Beach Grasses" Acrylic 6"x6"

"Beach Grasses"
Acrylic 6x6
£100 unframed

Ok I'm practicing what I preach and just painting. Plus I'm not taking the easy way out but having a go at something I don't have an affinty with.....the beach. But if your going to jump in at the deep end it might as well be with a! The more I type on the more I like this image before me but then it's been a long day and I'm tired.....there might be hair pulling and teeth knashing tomorrow morning. But right or wrong I made myself try.....

***Well woke up this morning 26th and it still looked good.....still needs a title though suggestions welcomed***

Struck a chord.....

Today while browsing through Facebook I came across this quote posted on Kelley Macdonald's  facebook profile and it struck a chord with me......

"Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art."
                                                           ~ Andy Warhol

"Soothing Path" Acrylic 6x6

"Soothing Path"
Acrylic 6x6

Sometimes paintings name themselves, other times it can be difficult to find something you haven't used before. Especially if like me you paint a lot of the things you see around you. This one found it's own name because that's how I felt when I looked at it......soothed. I'm hoping the panic I was feeling these past month's about my painting has subsided and the doubt is pushed back into a far corner squeezed in tightly by the happiness I feel about this little one. Hoping your happy today where ever your reading this from....

Work in progress....path through the trees

Started this wee one of the path I walk most mornings. Had hoped to do more this evening but it turned petty dull (more rain). Will get back to it tomorrow. I love these dappled paths....

Small battle won...."Peter II" Acrylic 6x6

"Peter II" Acrylic 6x6

Was going to leave it for a couple of days, just in case it was a fluke today that the paint fell off the brush onto this one. But that would have been daft considering the relief that something has actually turned out ok. I haven't signed it yet because I might give it a wee tweak here and there. Or maybe just leave it alone and appreciate a small battle won. One day at a time.....

Got a problem....

The only way to solve a problem is first to admit there is one. My problem I've lost the hunger to paint....not the best problem to have when your an artist. When I scroll back through my blog over the last year there has been precious little art to show. To be honest I'm not sure how I'm going to tackle it but tackle it I will. Time to stop looking for excuses and find solutions. I'm going to take a leaf out of my blogger friend and fellow Scot Sheona Hamilton Grant's book and shut off the computer and the buzz in my head. I'll be back when the paint is flowing........

Scuppered plans and a new blog....

This is my Scotland

Well my great plans of this past week had to take a back seat and I'm afraid I never managed near the easel. My Uncle who suffers with a heart problem took ill and had to be taken to hospital. I'm happy to say he's feeling much better now and is home being fussed over by my Aunt. Fingers are crossed that my free diary stays that way for the coming week and I make up for lost time.
I did though rustle up a new blog....yes I know I said just one but it does seem a shame that most of the photos I take never see the light of day. So this one is me sharing the things I see in a daily basis, the animals, landscapes, my garden.....this is my Scotland.
The odd photo or two will still pop up here along with the art so keeping looking in....

Work in Progress Peter No.2........

"Peter No.2" a work in progress

Well I'm happy to say yesterday was a lovely day, a bit overcast at times but dry and I managed to get my grass cut.....happy clapping. Today was back to rain but I'll talk about my wee work in progress first. A wee study of Peter a Charolais Bull who used to live nearby. Peter is my name for him as those who visit the blog frequently will remember I give all the moos I paint names. Makes it easier when coming to give the painting a title, black cow in a landscape gets boring after a This is a 6x6 in acrylics but don't be surprised if it eventually becomes a much larger painting. I'm thinking Peter handsome big fellow that his is would look pretty good life size....don't you think? I've a few more lined up couple more of Peter, some more Charolais, Friesians, Limousins and cross breeds. All with sweet faces and plenty of character and off course there will be some horses, landscapes and whatever else takes my fancy or catches my eye. So you'll have to pop in to keep!

As I said it was back to rain today but I was out for my walk rain or not and took my camera in the off chance I'd find something. First shot is of a partridge which was on a large grass verge on the turn off for Busbiehill. I stopped the car and rolled down the window to get this one, such a pretty bird. The middle one was a wee warbler that was giving me what for as I walked along the path. There were others there, I'm thinking it this was one of the parents warming me off...he's only the size of milk top lol. Bottom one is Lupin Pods, I loved the texture of the rain drops on them. Final of Euro Football is on tonight so I might get a bit more done of Peter as no chance I'll see any television! Thanks as always for looking in.....
