"Frozen Beach" Acrylic 6x6

"Frozen Beach"
Acrylic 6x6

Struggled photographing this one tonight the blue isn't quite as intense in the original. This is from one of the reference photos I took a couple of years back on Christmas Eve when the shore at Barassie, Troon froze. It was the most beautiful thing to see but my oh my was it cold. Christmas day was even worse as the roads werea sheet of ice. I had to walk through the fields to get to the horses because you couldn't walk on the path or road.
Thanks as always for looking in.

Glorious colour at and around Aberfeldy....

SOLD

From top to bottom "Soothing Path", "Sketch of a Bull Calf", "Meadowsweet" and "Harvest Hedgerow" were delivered safely today to Aberfeldy. They'll be taking part in the Aberfeldy Gallery's Christmas Exhibition which opens this coming Saturday 3rd November and runs on until the 4th January 2013. I got a sneaky beak at some of the work that will be on display and it's going to be a wonderful show. If you get the chance to pop up this weekend you won't be disappointed plus you get to take in the glorious Autumn colours that are setting the Perthshire countryside aglow at the moment. The photos below don't even come close to the real thing. I don't think I've enjoyed a drive as much or seen it so beautiful....lifted my spirits no end.

"Last Blink" Acrylic 6x6.....

"Last Blink"
Acrylic 6x6
£150 framed
sold

Managed this wee seascape finished this afternoon and thought I'd post it tonight as I might not manage tomorrow. We were almost at the last rays when I took the reference photo hence the title "Last Blink". I sometimes think the hardest think about finishing a painting is coming up with a title for it. This is a wee gem and I can see a larger piece springing from this one.

I've got a new baby.......

...........or should I say a new Canon EOS 600d. Will take me a wee while to get used to it, the weight especially....better than dumb bells. My trusty wee Canon Power Shot hasn't been retired will still be taking some pretty awesome photos. New baby is just a wee step up in my learning curve, we were out today for a wee trial and it was very gentle with me. I think were are going to get on just fine...smile!

Painting bombed but Aberfeldy Christmas Exhibition invites arrived...

I had planned to have another wee painting for you all to view but unfortunately this artist bombed big time. It started so good and in hindsight I wish I had left it as a study but I ploughed on in with a heavy hand. Mind you these little paintings are a learning curve for when I have to do grown up painting.....smile!

I also blame being distracted by a fire. An old hotel which sits ontop of Busbiehill (not far from where Tara was stabled) went on fire today. Don't know if it was deliberate as it's been empty for some time but it sure blackened the sky. Fortunatelythe wind was blowing it away from the neighbouring houses.

The invites for the Aberfeldy Gallery's Christmas Exhibition have been sent and I've recieved mine. Looks like it's going to a wonderful show.
Thanks as always for popping in.......

"The Sma' Glen" Acrylic 6x6

"The Sma' Glen"
Acrylic 6x6

With the festive season just around the corner I was thinking I would add a little sparkle to things here on the Blog. I've been cutting and priming a few wee 6x6's which are my starter size for  painting. Framed up they help brighten a room or fill up a corner wall, they sell from the website and galleries at £150 framed. Up until the Christmas period (and possibly beyond depending in popularity) I would like to offer them unframed at half price. The offer on each of the paintings would be for one week only. For example "The Sma Glen" will be available unframed at £75 until the 23rd October. I'd love everyone to have the chance of owning one of my original paintings. This is the best way I can think of too make that happen. Any questions drop me a line.....

No time to give up....

There wasn't a frost this morning more of a chilled dew. It hung in the air as I walked amongst the trees and what's left of the growth that lives alongside the path. There was a tired feeling also in the air a feeling of giving up, letting nature take her course.
No giving up for me I enjoyed the rest of my walk came home and cut more 6x6 boards Then I pottered a bit in the garden and planted some tuplip and crocus bulbs....hopefully the right way up...smile!
Time now to relax have dinner and watch some TV before next week starts and I have to work out what I'll be painting.....enjoy the rest of what's left of your weekend.
