Work and Play....

Tonto aka Silver By Nature enjoying his summer break...

Jack (Hurricane Jack) Tonto's full brother now retired from racing but busy having fun showjumping, dressage and showing. A great example of what a racehorse can do after racing...

Sonny, couldn't believe how he had filled out...

Sammy, have a real soft spot for him. Orphaned at eight weeks he's a credit to those who love  and care for him...

Newcomer the lovely Bella (Oh So Beautiful)

Bella and Charley her first foal by the Coolmore stallion Getaway...
On Monday I was delivering my paintings to the Aberfeldy Gallery for this weekends opening of a group exhibition I'm taking part in. I also had a wee gift for my friend Angie who looks after Geoff Brown's horses. The weather was less than perfect but it was nice to catch up with both two legged and four legged friends.
This morning I headed down to Troon to the Framework Gallery to pick up a painting that had been in getting framed and to leave another for framing. The cute one and I hit the beach on the way home....enjoyment and!

Group Exhibition at the Aberfeldy Gallery 3rd August-5th September

Busy wrapping up the paintings that are going to this exhibition when I realised I hadn't shown you all the lovely invites. I might be a little biased but they look rather nice :))

"Silver Light, Dundonald Hill" Acrylic 8"x8"

"Silver Light, Dundonald Hill"
Acrylic 8"x8"
Yeah I know big name for a painting, but, it just came into my head and who am I to ignore the head. Weather had turned a little cooler yesterday so I started this one in celebration. Was short lived as it was back to heat this afternoon. Inspired by the stormy weather I started this just before bed last night and finished it this morning. It's a view from top of Dundonald Hill from photos taken earlier in the year. It's a strange thing but I've kinda avoided seascapes over the years but for some reason this year I feel drawn to the if I could just get inspired to paint!

We're having a heatwave....

We're having a heatwave here in the usually wet and fresh Scotland. I know I shouldn't complain but it's way too warm for the likes of me....and my studio assistant below it would! And, they say it's too get warmer 35-36C phew. I have to get up and out early for my morning walk, it was particularly beautiful this morning......

Sasha work in progress

Really had hoped to have Sasha's portrait completed but I really wasn't happy with how it was progressing in acrylics. So throwing all caution to the wind I've started over painting it in oils. You will be relieved to hear (no more moaning) I'm much happier with it!

Found these wee charmers while I was on my walk this morning. I laughed at the poor wee soul on the bottom photo, her earrings are just a little bit too big for her....

Busy Busy

Been busy, busy over the last few days, delivering paintings to the framer and picking up a couple from an exhibition. Add to that I have one or two pieces on the go at the same time. Not normally something I do, but changing a routine can be a good thing. I feel now (that I'm older) my concentration doesn't last as long as it used to. Starting another seems to help. Got back to Sasha's portrait this afternoon and have started to lay on paint, eye first......something's will never!

Lovely day....

What a lovely start to my day, everything was covered in dew this morning when I woke and it was still there when I took my walk. The grasses like the top photo were hanging with it and it felt as if I was walking through a diamond factory......sadly no such!

Some shots of my wee boy....just because he's!

I suppose I better also mention some work. Been busy in the studio deciding which work is going to the group exhibition at the Aberfeldy Gallery at the end of this month. I also have commissions overdue as well as working on new pieces with a view to exhibiting in galleries. I won't be posting every day but hope you'll continue to pop in now and again to see whats new. The rough sketch above is of a much loved wee mare who is much missed.....hopefully I'll be able to capture her likeness.
Gosh we are half way through the year already, time is flying but I hope you are all enjoying the long summer days....thanks for looking in!

"Sleepy" Acrylic 10"x12"

Haven't signed this one yet as I'll have another look at it over the next few days. The actual size at the moment is 8"x10" but I might crop it a little......

Ok had a senior moment when I first posted this one it's actually 10"x12". I've also decided just to leave it as it is, it's quite grown on!

Tired Eyes....

The tired eyes in question are mine and not the sleepy wee calf I'm painting. I tried hard to fight through and get this one finished but having to put the brushes down. Tomorrow as they say is another!
