A quiet life, minus the pipe but definately the slippers...

Easter Sunday and the start of British Summertime. Yesterday I got a little confused, not to mention excited, thinking I had an extra hour in bed this morning. Sadly, it was the other way round and I lost an hour. I can't complain really because the sun shone brightly dispersing the fog around my brain. We still have a bitterly cold wind but there is the promise that if and when that dies down the soil will start to heat up. I can't remember the garden ever looking so bare, or the country path where I take my walk. But, I feel now there is change afoot and the first sign of buds are starting to appear.
I feel recently I have been neglecting my Blog. In fact I would go as far as admit to having crossed over to the dark side...Facebook :). It is so easy to post there and get an instant reply and I'm afraid my head and ego has been dragged in. The cracks are starting to appear though and I feel myself being drawn back to the quiet confines of my blog. The peaceful life minus the pipe but definately the slippers......

Happy Easter :D

Cold brisk walk....

Took myself off to Barassie Beach this afternoon, have to say it was pretty brisk along the shoreline. It took quite a while till I was able to feel my face after I got home but I did enjoy it. Spring is a long time coming this year and the cold and wind we've been experiancing is too last at least until the end of the week. The Isle of Arran was particularly hard hit and I can't remember when I last saw it this white, it certainly wasn't the end of March. Two huge pythons collapsed on the island under the weight of snow and ice and the islanders lost all power. Thankfully the sea wasn't too bad and they have been able to ferry out generators to help, Made me appreciate my wee warm house when I arrived home.
Stay cosy where ever you are :)

Little Paintings Makes Hansel Grow

Received a lovely letter today from Sheila McLean Fundraising Co-ordinator for Hansel. The Little Paintings Art event was a great success with £15,000 raised from the sales of the little paintings. I'm very proud to know my little painting below played it's part by finding a new home.

Heartbroken.....

Ranger - Do It For Dalkey
11th March 2002 - 09 March 2013

Horses have a way of capturing our hearts. They bring us moments of breathtaking happiness and sadly moments of heartbreaking saddness. Today the so beautiful Ranger (Do It For Dalkey) did both and was lost to those who loved him most. My heart hurts for Geoff and Joyce, Jodie, Angie, Erin and all the team at Arlary.

"Somewhere in time's own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some paradise where horses go,
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again."

"A Glimpse of Camelot"

"A Glimpse of Camelot"
(with thanks to Michael Smithson)

Was having a tidy around today and found this sketch I did back last May. Just after Camelot had won the 2000 Guineas. It was never meant to be anything other than a sketch. But, after looking at it for hours I decided to add a smidgeon more. The hint of a nostril and glint of the bit and now it's done....mind you could take another week or so before I'll know where to sign it!!

Found this quote the other day on Facebook......not that I'd ever boast about it but that Winston Churchill was a pretty smart bloke ;)

Wounded soldier and a Giveaway painting

I have a wee wounded soldier in the household. Yesterday we needed a visit to Craig the vet after some gymnastic practice went wrong. A triple somersault backwards off the settee resulted in a badly damaged nail, an unbelieveable amount of blood and a supected fractured toe. I'd like to say he was a model patient for Craig but the phrase like handling a bag of snakes springs more to mind. Fortunately no fracture but the nail had to be removed and cauterized. The brave wee soldier is now basking on the added attention of more cuddles and treats. He did insist his bandage had to match his blankie....smile!
