MY ART......

"Maroon and White Diamonds"
Acrylic 8"x7.5"

Was a rather wet and windy day here today. Too cold and wet for a walk and a wee bit too early to start thinking about the garden. My mind wasn't in the right zone too paint. So, as I usually feel a twinge of guilt if I don't do something artistic I made some alterations to my website. People often ask me what I like painting best animals (which usually means horses) or landscapes. Perhaps a few years back down the road I wouldn't have hesitated, and the answer would have been horses. Now I feel at home painting a varied mix of subjects and I think my work has improved because of that. So today I altered my website from a few labelled boxes i.e. Equine, Landscapes e.t.c to just one My Art. I hope you'll enjoy looking through it....ideal browsing on wet and windy!

A thoughtful gesture...

Spike and Joshua...together again!

Yesterday I recieved a lovely card from my vet Craig Friels and the staff at the Station Vets. It was a very kind and thoughtful gesture and I have to admit the verse left me a little teary....

.....Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you
I loved you so -
'twas Heaven here with you.

"Rough Coast" Acrylic 8"x8"...,painting for "Little Paintings Make Hansel Grow" Exhibition

"Rough Coast"
Acrylic 8"x8"
"Little Paintings Make Hansel Grow"
At last I have my first finished painting of 2014 and it feels good. This one is destined for an exhibition in March called "Little Paintings Make Hansel Grow". As it takes quite a bit of organising the paintings have to be at Hansel Village in plenty of time. Keeping my fingers crossed it does well at the three day exhibition. All proceeds from the exhibition go to the Therapeutic Community Resource, Our Space at Hansel Village and is sponsered by Costley & Costley Hoteliers Limited.

Drawing 2

copyright elizabeth mccrindle

There is definately something therapeutic about drawing and therefore enjoyable. Or perhaps in my case it's the knowledge that these are just for me, not something special for someone else. It's safe to say that this year I shall attempt to do more and hopefully improve my painting skills (an old art teacher once said if you can draw you can paint) and stress levels in the!

It isn't much but it's better than nothing.....

Sketch Buddy

The beginning's of a sketch of my own wee Buddy. I was feeling a little guilty about not posting haveing made such a fuss about how important my blog is to me. This isn't much but it's better than nothing. I don't know where the last few days have gone. But, I guess I'm no different from everyone else out there so will just have to try and spread myself better. I can already see a likeness to Buddy in just this little start. I know I've said it before but it's the eyes and like most Poms also the eyebrows lol.
Hope you've all had a good weekend and thanks for looking in......

Motivation....or lack off!

Well the beginning of 2014 hasn't quite started as I had hoped motivation being hard to come by from both the artist and the muses. I blame it on Christmas falling mid week, so confusing as every day feels like Friday. Off course that could just be an age thing with! Then Lily who should have had her wee operation has come into season....not an ideal situation believe me. Then there was the problem with my electricity meter it would appear it hasn't been working and no one i.e. me or Scottish Power knew until I recieved my yearly statement. Firstly, have you ever tried to get hold of an actual person these days when you phone your energy provider. I gave up after two days and just emailed the customer service. Since then what has followed is something akin to the joke about 'how many Irish men does it take to change a light bulb...three, one to put the bulb in and two to turn the chair around'. Customer services got back to me with an appointment for an engineer to come and check the meter. He arrived to check and confirm the meter wasn't working ( I mean I didn't already know that). Like me you probably thought well he'll fit a new! He had to put in a report that it wasn't working and an appointment would be made for another engineer to come and put in a new one. He came last Friday and discovered he couldn't budge the main fuse and had to put in another report to his boss for another team to come out to put in a new main fuse and he would then come back and put a new meter in. They were coming on Wednesday in the morning...yep you guessed the engineer came to check that there was a problem and phoned for another lot to come and repair it. The other team arrived yesterday came in put in a new main fuse and left. Wonder how long I'll have to wait for the meter guy......sigh! KEEP SMILING!!
Hopefully next time you look in here will be some art to feast your eyes on.

Happy New Year

Well the christmas decorations are down and packed away. Was going to say for another year but the other year has already started and unless I'm quick in typing this, the first day will have been and gone. For the first time since I started blogging (this will be my fifth year....oops sixth, gosh time does fly) the posts have dropped in number, I'm short about 30 something posts than in previous years. Obviously spaced out throughout the year but that's a month's worth. If I'm honest what I did post didn't really amount too much either. I've read elsewhere that it seems to be an all over thing and some people have given up their blogs all together. I'm thinking that it has something to do with the popularity of Facebook Pages. Well much as I also enjoy sharing through my Facebook Page I'm really going to make a bigger effort to post on my blog this year. My blog isn't just for sharing, though I do love sharing with all of you who read it and I enjoy and find encouragement in the lovely comments you leave. It's for ME a diary of what I have or haven't accomplished during the year. I way of looking back and seeing how my work has improved or where it really needs too. It's also a way of sharing the good and the bad times and we all have our share of that.
So onwards and upwards I have blank canvasses to fill and lots of ideas in my head. Last year I was lucky to add The Framework Gallery back on my list of galleries who represent me. And, so far we've got off to a great start. Hopefully I'll add another gallery this year (maybe two), meanwhile I'd like to wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year, thanks for looking......

This wee sketch is the reason I was late posting, one of a few preparation studies I'll be doing for a painting of the Brown family. This is the lovely and much missed Tonto (Silver By Nature)......
