Much needed clear out.....

Yesterday I made a small dent in a major clear out that is needed. Over the years stuff just seems to arrive in this house but nothing ever leaves. Add to that there comes a point when you don't no where to start the clearing. But something snapped and in my usual gung ho fashion I decided to move the bookcase from the room I call my studio. No easy and also the sudden realisation that perhaps the said bookcase would disintegrate leaving me with more rather than less mess. As it turned out armed with my new drill and some screws it survived it's move and now resides in my brother's room, home to his collection of DVD's which caused the snap...smile! Some of my books are also back in their old home but decisions will have to be made as to where the others will go and what can be culled :(
During the move two things were discovered behind the bookcase. Well there was actually more than two but only two of interest. The first above is a nice wee portrait of a Setter done in Acrylics straight onto MDF it measures 5"x 4.5" and yesterday I offered it up as a freebie on Facebook. Same applies on here anyone who fancies the chance of winning an original McCrindle just send your name and email address to emccrindleart@hotmail.co.uk I'll be making the draw on Friday 28th February.

The other item is one of those things you treasure to remind you of a special day. It hung on the bookcase as a kind of talisman until one day a few years back I realised it had gone. Now it's hanging on my easel where I hope it will work it's magic on my brushes.

"Hazy Summer" Acrylic 8"x10"

"Hazy Summer"
Acrylic 8"x10"

So nice to see the days lengthening, don't know about all of you but it certainly makes me feel better. Just getting a little desperate to get into the garden and start preparing for the season. Hearing the birds starting to twitter at around 6 am yesterday made me think of long Summer days. So this was the result an old hawthorn tree wearing it's green canopy on a hazy summer morning.

"Lost Horizon" Acrylic 6"x6" .....and an almost lost blog!

"Lost Horizon"
Acrylic 6"x6"

Well I have been having a bit of drama as far as blogging goes. Since Thursday past I haven't been able to post on my blog. Yesterday after much tearing of hair trying to make contact with anyone from Google I was advised that my browser Internet Explorer was at fault and I should use Google Chrome. Have to say Google Chrome does indeed work, hence you are all reading this post. But, for the life of me I can't understand why suddenly after using Internet Explorer since I started my blog in 2009 it should suddenly stop. For now I'm happy to have found a way to keep communicating but as for in the long run we shall see. I'm not overly fond of change and having to jump backwards and forwards through Google's hoops doesn't sit well with me.
Managed this wee seascape today though it hasn't photographed to well and looks much better in the flesh. I'll shall try to get a better image of it. Today we were blessed with what could only be described as a lovely Spring day. Not sure what tomorrow is bringing but I certainly grabbed today...with both hands.
Thanks for looking....smile!

It must be the weather.....

This has to be the longest run of no posts on my blog. Just can't seem to get myself motivated to find anything to write about. I think the constant pounding of rain and wind has seeped into my brain and turned it to mush. For once my wee part of the UK has missed the worse that nature can throw but, the sorrow I feel for those who are under water (some in Somerset for as long as the beginning of 2014) depresses me. I can't think how they are coping for watching it on TV moves me to tears.
But today I've given myself a wake up call to Spring Exhibitions that paintings need to be done for, so today I'll be cutting and gessoing boards so I can get started. But I'll also be sending postitive thoughts for an end to this disaster and some sunshine and hope to those who need it. Hoping your warm and dry as you read this.....

"Sparkle on the Sea, Barassie" Acrylic 8"x8"

"Sparkle on the Sea"
Acrylic 8"x8"
Played around a little with this one as it wasn't just right. Putting some stronger highlights on the buildings on the shoreline has helped. I also deepened the sand in the foreground.
Hope you have had a lovely weekend, hard to believe we're into February already. Thanks for taking the time to look in.......
