Almost September...

Yesterday I was bemoaning the chilly mornings and cold evenings, or was it the other way around? So I was surprised to step out this morning on my walk and find it really quite warm...not that I'm complaining or were the dogs. Being Sunday we walked a little further than normal as Sunday tends to be a lazy day i.e we don't do anything that remotely resembles work. Mind you I think someone must have started a cycle club with the number of cyclists we met. Buddy and Lilly not overly fond of cyclists showed their disdain to each and everyone of them. The cyclists unaware of the danger they were in waved cheery hello's our way as they day the hounds of hell shall break!
"By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer."

"Early Dark" Acrylic 6" x 6"

"Early Dark"
Acrylic 6" x 6"

Early Dark, another one that hasn't photographed as well as I would have liked the blues aren't quite as blue in the flesh. Earlier dark, another sign that Autumn is creeping silently upon us. That and the cool mornings and chilly nights. Not quite suffering from the winter blues yet as Autumn has to be one, if not my most favourite of the season's. Hedgerows hanging with berries, hawthorns a red blaze with fruit. Golden fields, some still to be cut and others with row upon row of bales. Gosh where has the year gone, come Monday we will be into September. Soon the garden will need help for it's long sleep until next Spring.

"Fields of Summer" Acrylic 6" x 6"

"Fields of Summer"
Acrylic 6" x 6"
Finally managed get a painting completed and signed off the easel. Things just haven't been happening, much of it my own doing I'm afraid. This one started off as a wipe off/paint over and came straight out off my head...or what I call a makee!

Yesterday my wee sweetheart Lilly celebrated her 5th birthday. She arrived in my life a year ago next month and she along with Buddy has been a continual source  of fun, love and entertainment. Life would most certainly have been a lot quieter and emptier without them in it. I'm thankful for everyday they are in my life.

An honest eye....

There is just something so honest about a horses eye. I never tire of trying to paint/photograph them!

"Five Yachts Counted" Acrylic 6" x 6"

"Five Yachts Counted"
Acrylic 6" x 6"
Finally managed this wee one finished the rocks proved a little challenging and were wiped off more than once but I've settled for them now. Just noticed in my excitement to get it finished I forgot to sign it. Hopefully I remember before it's framed :D
Bitter cold and windy today but I'm hoping there will still be plenty more fine days before winter starts to sink her teeth in and I put the heating! Have a warm one where ever you are and thanks for looking in....

Work in progress...untitled seascape

I really have been neglecting my artwork, getting caught up with life and all the trials it brings and spending too much time on social media. Plus I guess you could add gardening to the equation, though I have to say that helps keep me sane......well as sane as I am ever likely to get. So I started this wee 6" x 6" seascape about 15 minutes ago. Starting is always the hardest thing to do. Just the wee matter of getting focus back into my thick skull....and keep focussing!

Art off the Square Exhibition 13th - 16th August

Not the best of days to be delivering paintings, high winds and heavy showers. Surprisingly my friend Jane (who was at the wheel) and I got it dry to get paintings packed in the car and into Kilbarchan's East Church hall. Been a couple of years since I've exhibited at Art off the Square so I'm looking forward to renewing the accquaintance. It will be held over three days from 13th - 16th August at the Kilbarchan East Church hall and I can highly recommend a visit....even if it's just to sample the delicious home baking.

Mellow August

I always think of August as the mellowing month. Nature turns a corner and starts to slow down, vibrant greens soften and the golds and ochres start to creep in, this could possibly be my favourite time of!

Sitting here wondering.....

Sitting here wondering where on earth the first half off the year disappeared too. Here we are into August and I don't seem to have accomplished even a part off what I had hoped to. The weather as I said when I purchased my fan has cooled quite a bit and brought some rain with it. I'm not even going to dare say a wee bit sun would be nice. This weekend see's the end of Glasgow's Commonwealth Games with the closing ceremony tomorrow night. I'm so proud off how everyone has helped to make these 'the friendly games', and, with how well our home team have done, not too mention the teams from the rest of our United Kingdom. While searching my library of photos for something a little autumnal I found the picture above.......a most appropriate emblem of Scotland, the thistle!
I hope you enjoy what is left of your weekend. I shall endeavour to have something to show from the easel next week, so remember to pop in......
