Didn't have much joy trying to photograph this one, trust me it looks much better in the flesh. Today has been a typical start to British Summer Time. It rained with gusts of wind and a few blinks of sunshine, but thankfully lighter longer this evening so you can't have everything...smile!

Tulips starting to open in the heat. One of these days I'll get the courage to paint flowers...

Enjoy...

Think this is my favourite...

A serious Lilly

A not so serious frog Live Love and a somewhat faded Laugh!

My boy Buddy

Sparkling Dwarf Daffodils

My wee Canon Powershot has been a great servant over the years but recently it started to feel a wee bit tired. So today I bought myself a new one a Powershot SX50HS. We are just getting to know each other at the moment but for a wee guy it packs quite a punch...smile!

It's official, it's Spring...

"The best things in life are nearest,
Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet."
Robert Louis Stevenson

It's official, Spring has arrived. Glorious sunshine, longer light and that awakening of something you can't put your finger on, but just know it's there. It seems easier to get out of bed in the morning and there's a pull, some magical force, enticing you to be outside....yes Spring is here!

"Golden Grasses" Acrylic 12" x 12"

"Golden Grasses"
Acrylic 12" x 12"

What a beautiful morning, one that made you step out that bit further on your walk, much to Buddy and Lilly's delight. There was a feel of Spring in the air, some heat and a hint that the buds on the hedges and shrubs are starting to fatten. Of course by tomorrow we could be back to the cold, wind and rain, but today our spirits took a lift. With my newly charged batteries I even managed a larger painting than the norm. I know 12" x 12" isn't large by any standard but for someone who has been putting out a good few six by sixes over the last few month's this was another step forward. I have to say I'm really quite pleased with the finished piece. There were some moments when I wasn't too sure it was going well but I plodded on....my new motto "Just Plod On"....
I will now enjoy the rest of my Sunday, sitting back with a good book and some TV in the evening. I hope you've had a good weekend too, look back soon!

everything is finished.

That will be

"A lovelier blossom lights in the gloom,
That timid fears impart,
The heaven fed flower of Purity;
Oh! Nurse the snowdrop still!
And in it's breath, a charm shall be,
To guard thee from all ill"

Special Treat....

"Zippy" by Linda Shantz

"Sheldon" by Linda Shantz

A special treat for everyone looking in and a really special treat for me (we artists don't just stop at painting we like to collect other artist's as well). These fabulous foal studies arrived today all the way from Canada and I can't describe how delighted I am with them. Couple of weeks back my good friend and fellow artist Linda Shantz introduced us to her brand new website http://www.lindashantz.com and I pounced on these two wee beauties as fast as my finger could hit the pay button. They are so lovely in the flesh and I can't wait to get them framed. There is still a great selection waiting for their forever homes so be sure to have a look thorough on the link.

Torrance Gallery's Spring Exhibition

"Spring Bouquet"
Acrylic 6" x 8"

"Last Light"
Acrylic 6" x 6"

"Colin"
Oil 6" x 6"
These are three of the paintings that will be heading off to Edinburgh on Monday. Still working on the last one, fingers crossed I get it finished tomorrow, living life on the edge artist style lol. Getting them in their frames and then wrapped to survive the journey is sometimes harder and more time comsuming than painting them...smile! The exhibition runs from 14th March through to 19th April in the Torrance Gallery, Dundas Street. If your in Edinburgh during the dates pop in for a wee look, you might just bag yourself a bargain!

Wee Nosey...

Busy day today cutting and priming boards of various sizes not my most favourite job...bleugh! Time consuming and sometimes messy. Pomeranians seem particularly adept at getting gesso on their coats, thankfully it brushes out without much trouble.
No painting, so instead a couple of shots of wee nosey aka Buddy sitting on the stairs. From there he can view the world go past, and invariably let's everyone know when someone does...how something that small can cause so much noise astounds me...lol

Colin - Oil 6" x 6"

"Colin"
Oils 6" x 6"

Finally Colin has a face, I don't normally post on a Sunday, but I was keen to follow on from yesterday's post. I've also added the other progress photos below, just in case you had forgotten who Colin was...smile! Pretty happy with how he's turned out and feeling much inspired to get back to work. I'm going to share a link from my blog to my art page on Facebook, that way those who have been kind to take an interest in my work won't feel left out!
Well that is us now into March and today was the first day of Spring. I have to say it was not much spring like with rain, sleet and hail, all hitting us for good measure, but as my Gran used to say " if March comes in like a Lion, it will leave as a Lamb"...here's hoping!
Be back soon and thanks for looking...smile!
