Starlings

I used to think that starlings were pretty much, noisy, messy. nondescript birds but how wrong could I be. They're still noisy and messy but far from nondescipt if you have the time to sit and watch. At first glance they look a dirty black colour but when the sun shines their plummage comes into its own. Pearlised colour, blues, green and violet flashes over them and the fleathers are patterned. I especially love there breasts which appear to be covered in little heart shapes. They also live in family groups and bicker noisily at each other over a tiny piece of bread. They are surprisely clean in habit (even if they do poop for Scotland) and are first in the bird bath in the morning and last to bathe at night. I've kinda got attached to them :)

We have Starlings here at the Center where I work, fortunately not at the house. I too think they are a beautiful bird with the glorious sheen to their feathers, but they can sure decimate a bird feeder!

its scary watching them destroy fat balls lol but they are very pretty birds but most people don't stop to think of them as anything but brown birds :p
