"Morning Shadows" Acrylic 6" x 6"

"Morning Shadows"
Acrylic 6" x 6"
£190-

Wee corner of one of the back roads leading out from the wee village I live in. Things have been slow to sprout forth in the countryside and the garden this year. But, once it get's started there's no holding it back.
Hopes things are growing where ever you are...

"Again rejoicing Nature sees,
Her role assume its vernal hues,
Her leafy locks wave in the breeze,
All freshly steep'd in the morning dews"

Finally...

Finally signed this one of the easel as finished, but honestly some paintings are never finished in an artist's eye, and this is one of those. At times it was fun and a lot of the time I was pulling teeth and hair. But, they are all a learning curve at least I hope so...smile!

Getting there...

Truth be told I haven't been painting much this week as I've been playing at being a gardener. But I had a couple of hours at the easel this morning. This has to be a record for taking so long on a 6 inch by 6 inch painting. Nearly there and the next you see it'll be finished. Have to say I'm happy now with how it's going and even the cad. red...smile!

Grabbing it while it's here...

Been enjoying some quality time in the garden this week. Lovely sunny days and real heat with a perfect breeze. What more can you ask for, a case of grabbing it while it's here...smile!

It just kept staring at me....

Almost a week since I sat the red horse in the corner. Started in water based oils it first left me with swollen lips and a tingling up and down my neck. I left it on the easel overnight saying to myself it wasn't worth causing health problems. Next day the eye followed me and I succumbed to another try. This time I wore a mask and thought I had cracked it but half an hour later my lips again started to tingle and swell. Enough is enough I said to myself I'll just concentrate on acrylics. But, even as I said it I sat the 6" x 6"against some other stuff to let it dry. That eye just kept me under it's spell and today I found myself feeling the board to see if it was dry. I reckoned as it was water based I should be able to finish it off in acrylics. Just couldn't bare to chuck away such a pretty eye. There was a slight tingle in my lips but the minute I washed my face it was gone, so fingers crossed I'll get to finish it. Still regret using the cad. red as it takes a lot to push it back. Some folk are never happy :)

Still trying...very trying!

Well I tried again this morning with this oil but didn't get far before I had to down tools once more. Tried wearing a mask and thought I had cracked it but although it wasn't as dramatic as yesterday when I started having pains in my neck, the tingling sensation started in my lips after about half an hour working. I'll put this one aside for a couple of days and have another try. Not actually sure that painting on Cad. Red Medium was a good choice either as it is very dominant. I was painting over the error of my ways with another painting I guess I should take note from the image below. I found it recently on Facebook and shall try to remember it every time something goes pear shaped...smile!

Made a start but...

Made a start to this one today in water based oils but not sure if I'm going to be able to keep going with it. I started using water based oils when I started having a reaction to painting with oils. Now it would seem the same problem is happening with them. Such a shame as I love the lush feel you get with using oils. But, health has to come first and there are worse things than having to paint with acrylics for the rest of your life...ho fecking hum!
